Book Review: In the Garden with Dr. Carver

In the Garden with Dr. Carver by Susan Grigsby // Illustrated by Nicole Tadgell.

This book is a beautiful celebration of the life and contributions of Dr. George Washington Carver. Written as a narrative told by a young girl, it depicts the spirit and science of this agricultural innovator. The detailed illustrations capture Dr. Carver’s love for nature and helping communities prosper.

A perfect book to introduce the arrival of spring and inspire you to plant your own seeds and watch them grow!

Fun fact: I live in the peanut capital of the world (Dothan, Alabama) home of the G.W. Carver Interpretive Museum and a mural dedicated to Dr. Carver’s legacy. Dothan hosts The National Peanut Festival in late fall that attracts over 200,000 people over the 10-day event with concerts, fair rides, food vendors, agricultural competitions, photography and craft exhibits and other attractions. We are also home to Bravo's Top Chef Season 16 winner Kelsey Barnard Clark and her restaurant KBC. For more information go to VisitDothan.com
